Gravitational Waves Infographic
Gravitational waves happen when two blackholes collide and create a ripple in spacetime. This has always been just a theory with no way to prove it, but in September 2015, for the first time ever, LIGO technologies were able to detect what they believe is a gravitational wave. Though there are no known impacts of this on humans, and not really a way that we can use this information for anything useful, it's still incredibly fascinating and absolutely mind boggling that they are being detected.
This is a design board done for a class I took at SCAD called Design for Motion. This essentially shows the process of two objects slamming together post intense rotation around one another, creating a gravitational wave which travels all the way to earth and is detected by LIGO.
